Paul campaign ends on Down note

going to blog on the TNR report today?
Lew Rockwell was a ghostwriter for Dr. Paul, and this was during and for the campaign? Nothing shameful there.
Are you trying to make a certain implication with this post, Mr. Dondero?
Jonathan, check this:
http://www.lastfreevoice.com/2008/01/08/why-the-old-ron-paul-newsletters-have-nothing-to-do-with-the-ron-paul-revolution/
Cheers,
Alex Peak
Eric, the timing coincides that you could have been the ghost writer as well. So was it you?
No, it was not me.
Here are some witnesses that can verify that it was indeed Lew:
Tom Lizardo
Norm Singleton
Michael Quin Sullivan
Rand Paul
Kent Snyder
Jeff Tucker
Mike Holmes
too name just a few.
SO is Ron Paul resposible for every dumb ass thing donderoooooo ever said as well?
If so, he's really screwed.
If true, this is severely damaging to the campaign, since Lew is obviously a large part of it. I guess we will see over the next few days how this plays out, with these or other witnesses coming forward, or if Lew confesses openly. I will be watching closely.
Also, you may want to add Wendy McElroy as a witness in her open appeal to the primary ghost-writer.
Eric Donderoo is a known pedophile.
there are witness's and everything.
If you guys know this was Lew then Lew has to go immediately. You can't run this campaign like ADHD stricken teenagers. We need action. We are going to lose a lot of faith and support otherwise. It seems like nobody is in charge.
if you guys think that Paul can spin his way out of this politically your nuts.
The attack ad scenarios are endless, especially in light of his anti-Israel votes, refusing to return Neo-Nazi donations, pandering to 9/11 truthers and anti-semites like Alex Jones and other shady activities.
the report at the top said "Ron Paul" and on the page claiming MLK was a pedophile he has a paragraph he clearly wrote since it says "CAROL" his Children and his "Grandchildren" wish them happy holiday's. I mean what is the spin to that, that the Ghost writer personalized it that much???

Eric, be specific. Are you suggesting that Rockwell wrote ALL of the articles referenced in TNR peice? Did Paul write some and Rockwell others? What was Paul's involvement in the articles?
This story doesn't have to damage the Paul campaign. Ron Paul disavowed these newsletters; he dealt with this in the past. The New Republic linked to the newsletters; let's link to the articles that demonstrate that Paul took care of this. Link to the evidence and move on!
Tim Virkkala says he has four names in mind of who could have contributed to the newsletters:
http://wirkman.net/wordpress/
Tim Virkkala isn't saying anything that will help matters. If Lew is responsible then he has to take responsibility. If more people are responsible then they all should step up. This campaign is way too important.
It is generally known that the paleos' writing at the time was cranky, negative and played up race issues. Whether this was the indulgent prejudices of the writers or an attempt to fundraise with the good ol' boys, I don't know. Bottom line is it made Ron look bad in the '90s, as it does now for having tolerated it to any degree.
The negative, cranky content also appears in the non-Rothbard writings in the Rothbard-Rockwell Report. Eric shared with me several issues of it at the time (a hundred bucks a year was a little steep for me).
I tend to go along with Eric's account here. The assertion that it was Eric is absurd, it just goes to show the commenter doesn't know a damned thing about the personalities involved.
I like Lew a lot; I've never had anything against him. But I'm sure he didn't like the cracks Bill Bradford made at him in the Liberty article with my name on it (Bradford inserted some passages in my article to call Lew a "liar" and Burt Blumert a "libertarian moneybags"). Jesse Walker says Bradford and the paleos were on good terms circa 1990, but it went downhill afterwards.
The whole affair makes me very sympathetic to Ron's predicament right now, because I know what it's like to have stuff printed bearing your name that you didn't write.
By the way, did we ever figure out who Sarah Barton was, author of "The Ear" gossip column in the RRR????
Hey Eric,
I'm curious though having been only a year old to the libertarian movement and being unaware of this issue. Is Ron or the paleo-crowd generally racist? Or did they actively engage with the White Nationalist movement? Have they reformed their ways? It would be great if you could do an entire post on the issue with your thoughts.
I'm still reflecting on all this, and deciding on the best course of action to take that would be most beneficial for the libertarian movement, and more specifically the Libertarian Republicans.
Please give me some space.
I beg your indulgence.
I'll have more to say in the coming days. And I'm sure all the information you all are waiting for will come out in time.
the Ace of Spades blog, has an excellent Rant on this, specifically targeting the Reason bloggers in denial.

The paleoconservatives were obsessed with being hateful, intolerant and socially ultraconservative in the 1990s. They wrote that stuff in Ron's newsletter and now it is damaging his campaign.
Thanks a lot, paleocons.
I'll say this, though - calling Bush Sr. a bum were the funniest words Ron never wrote.
This part of this, which isn't from the newsletter but from Pauls Congressional letterhead and has his Signature at the bottom needs more attention:
http://www.tnr.com/downloads/solicitation.pdf
Unfortunately, these words were written in Ron Paul's name, considering it was in the "Ron Paul Newsletter". It's one thing if he had guest articles, but that was not the case. The writings were all in first person.
Additionally, if this had been one or two times, that's one thing. But this went ondozens of times for years!
Lastly, if it is true a ghost-writer wrote the rascist comments, Ron should have completely divorced himself from this person, and offered full transparency by naming him. If the allegations are true that Lew is the ghost-writer, this reflects horribly on the Ron Paul campaign as a whole, and on the libertarian movement as well.
I guess we shall wait and see how this progresses.
TNR has a post up now, alluding to Rockwell being behind the Solicitation letter.
I guess Rockwell isn't the best of scape goats for Paul to have.
more proof of paul writing newsletters: Proof: Ron Paul Lied About Not Being the Author of the Newsletters
Eric Dondero, the disgusting Giuliani supporter who used to work for Ron Paul, at it again. This guy was fired by Ron Paul and spends all his time writing bullshit about him. He's a joke.
Libertarians shouldn't be right-wingers!!!
The story is all over CNN now with The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer doing an extensive piece on the newsletters and alluding to the New Republic stories.
This is no longer just Eric or a others online claiming Paul's ties to these terrible writings. Now it is an international news network and a mainstream political publication.
Look folks, differences aside, this is getting really humiliating for the libertarian movement. Even Paul supporters have to realize what this is doing to libertarianism.
Tucker did just say he is still voting for RP though. A little consolation?
