Democrat Congresswoman tells Republicans how to win: Nominate Sarah Palin as VP

by Adam Brickley

The Governor is in the hospital after delivering her son Trig, but she appeared over the weekend in a taped interview on the PBS political program "To the Contrary" to discuss diversity in the Republican Party as well as balancing family and politics. The subject of the Vice Presidency came up even with her pregnancy.

(Note - if you hadn't heard yet, Gov. Palin was at a GOP conference in Texas last week when she went into labor, but rushed back to Alaska for delivery.)

"To the Contrary", is devoted to "stories relevant to women, families, and communities of color" and this weeks panelists included U.S. House Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), Genevieve Wood of the Heritage Foundation, Ruth Conniff of The Progressive Magazine, and Tara Wall of the Washington Times. Palin was listed as the topic "Sarah Palin...on balancing family and political life."

Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) was postively wowed by the governor and started spouting lines like "You better embrace this woman quick!", "That's a VERY attractive candidate!", "She's just what your party needs!" and (my personal favorite) "That was some McCain straight talk you just got from that girl!".

I think we all owe congresswoman Norton a debt of gratitude for unwittingly telling John McCain how to wipe the floor with her party in November.
