This item comes to us courtesy of Sound Politics published by Stefan Sharansky. Stefan is a self described "libertarian Republican." His blog is the most popular political site in all of Washington State with over 30,000 hits a day. Stefan and his staff uncovered this Training Manual for Ron Paul delegates, planning on attending the upcomming Washington State Republican Convention. The information can only be accessed off the WA State Ron Paul site with a special code.
The Manual titled simply "Washington Delegate info" contains suggestions for how Ron Paul supporters can most effectively infiltrate GOP Conventions. It has some rather interesting advice for would-be delegates, including:
* Be sociable- Attend the breakfast at the convention and talk to people there. You could hand out Dino Rossi {WA's Republican candidate for Governor} bumper stickers with your name and “running for delegate” written across the back. The Manual goes on to advise strongly against any mention of Maureen McMahon Moore, State Coordinator for the Ron Paul for President Campaign. Presumeably she was the author of the Manual, or at least had a hand in its production.
* Do not wear Ron Paul Gear- You are the candidate and you are running for a delegate position. Create your own election flyer or card with you as the candidate running for delegate…you can list credentials- soccer coach, bible study teacher, veteran, home schooler etc etc..
* Look to your leadership for assistance- If you are unsure about a motion being made look to your leaders for a sign (thumbs up or down). Also remember to communicate with them before the convention begins. It is their job to assist you so feel free to ask them any questions that you are unsure about.
* Slate- Our Ron Paul slates will be relatively uniform as far as presentation and our list of endorsements. However, each delegate should have a brief subtext beside his or her name. Such as: John Smith- Iraq Veteran, and local firefighter. This will give our delegates more credibility.
* Do not mention the war, as this is a sensitive issue that will allow the other delegates to identify you as a Ron Paul supporter. And this will also serve to polarize our Ron Paul slate from other conservatives in at the convention. Represent a strong stance against Bin Laden and al-Qaeda, as conservatives love to hear these kinds of things. Also talk about LOCAL issues…Gregoires bizarra Park plan, property rights, You can mention monetary policy, national ID cards, the protection of civil liberties, NAFTA, immigration, etc. These are issues that conservatives will be receptive to and they are also issues that Republicans need to hear about.
* Again, Make no mention of the Iraq War- You will see how quickly the crowd will turn on you, and more importantly refuse to vote for you.

Dude, its REDDIT.
and you're welcome
Does anyone else think that it's absurd that members
of the Republican party have to resort to subterfuge
in order to participate in the activities of their *own*
party.
Yup. And worse, some of these Ron Paulists are self-described "libertarians." One of the first tennets of being a libertarian is that you don't use force or "fraud" to accomplish your goals.
These Paulists are clearly using false pretenses to accomplish their objectives. They're not bending the rules, they're completely breaking them. This is not simply a politician stretching the truth. These guys are outright lying about it, and it's right there in black & white in their own manual.
If I was a WA State GOP leader I'd consider censoring these delegates, and maybe even stripping them of their delegate badges.
Eric, you are mistaken. Not volunteering information about yourself is far different from lying about your motives. They aren’t saying they are supporting the war, just not bringing those particular views up due to all the recent discrimination against Ron Paul supporters recently.
If anyone is guilty of “false pretenses“ it would be McCain telling Republicans that he is a conservative. That is an out right lie. What these Paulites are doing is withholding information at worst.
Actually libertarianism is a political philosophy. Maybe you were thinking of Jesus who said dont lie to anyone, ever?
Paul is more of an outright liar than McCain ever has been, and that is saying something.
Jonathan LOL
You are hilarious.
Thank you for posting links and facts to back up your statement! Well done! Geez, anyone should wish to get a smartass like you to work for them...
Eric, which Paul delegates have used force or fraud?Simply a totally f%#king ridiculous statement, I did not expect even from you.
You and many people, including the media clearly do not understand how the whole primacy/caucus situation works. I will admit I also did not knew until
someone explained to us many weeks ago. The primaries are basically like a glorified strawpoll. The delegates are decided only with the state caucus meeting. Read the RNC party rules in pdf format.
this blog and many others have documented it.
Had paul not been a fringe nut candidate with little support, he would've been vetted by the media and it would've been Jeremiah Wright magnified. all the contradictions, lies, historically illiterate statements, slandering the constitution and our history in some cases, etc.
There is no greater authority in America on who is and who is not a Conservative in America than David Keene and the American Conservative Union. McCain's lifetime ACU rating is a solid 82. Not hardcore Conservative, more like Moderate Squishy Conservative. But Conservative none-the-less.
For McCain to call himself a "Conservative" when he has ACU's stamp of approval is not a lie.
Maybe an exaggerration. But not a lie.
Let me get this straight. Those running for president and any other state and local official position can be caught, down right lieing just for the votes. GOP leaders can break all the rules of order and McCains supporters can lie and perform opposite to the rules, but if anyother person that is not a McCain supporter abides by the rules or finds a loop hole to chalenge existing rules, these people are guilty of false pretenses and lieing. If the facts serve me correctly, hasn't the republican administration been lieing about, monitary policy, war policy, disobeying the constitution that they swore going into office to uphold and protect. And this is at every level of the GOP. If you ask me we need to clean house of the corruption that has infiltrated the republican party. Our state use to be primarily republican. This primary election over 75% of the people who voted were democrats. What does that tell you. Something is very wrong with the GOP and the few of you that continue to dog on Ron Paul and the people who support him. WAKE UP !
Anonymous, the people supporting Ron Paul are NOT Republicans.
They are Moveon.org/DailKos Leftwing activists, most likely funded by George Soros to disrupt the GOP internally.
Back in the Fall, this Blog did extensive interviews and articles with people on the ground in Nevada, where these Moveon.org Leftists had infiltrated the GOP under the guise of "Ron Paul Revolution" to disrupt the local GOP meetings.
Nowadays, virtually all the Ron Paul supporters left are not even libertarians, but rather Leftists posing as such in order to sneak into the GOP, and cause havoc.
Just today there was an article on HotAir.com about this very subject: Ron Paulists now threatening a big floor demonstration in Minneapolis at the National GOP Convention.
"One of the first tennets of being a libertarian is that you don't use force or "fraud" to accomplish your goals."
Libertarian or not libertarian, I guess anyone that follows that motto cannot be a Republican by definition. Or can you fully support people who use fraud and force to accomplish their objectives if you aren't doing it yourself? (See Iraq War)
