We agree with Tom DeLay: Obama is a Marxist, but overall he's a flaming Fascist, as well

by Eric Dondero

The Leftwing Blogosphere is up in arms over a comment former Texas Congressman Tom DeLay made on the Mike Gallagher show the other day.

From the Far Left blog Think Progress:

On right-winger Mike Gallagher’s radio show today, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX), who is currently facing charges of money laundering and conspiracy to launder money, launched a fringe attack on Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) by claiming that he is a Marxist. “I have said publicly, and I will again, that unless he proves me wrong, he is a Marxist,” DeLay declared.

Gallagher couldn’t agree more, saying “that’s what he is”:

GALLAGHER: Yeah, that’s, we hear that everyday. Congressman, every day someone will say to me, and I’ve said it, it’s as if this were a guy who’s desperately trying to cover up what seems to be the kind of old school Marxist, radical liberal failed ideology.

DELAY: Absolutely.

GALLAGHER: That’s what he is.

DELAY: No doubt about it.
Problem is DeLay got it only half-right. Obama is certainly a Marxist on economics, posting a solid 100 perfect rating from the openly Marxist ADA (Americans for Democratic Action), for the past two years.

But DeLay, typical of our Conservative friends, looks at only half the equation. There's the civil liberties side as well. And on that, Obama scores another perfect score as an opponent of freedom. He's a champion gun grabber having voted repeatedly for extremist gun control measures while an Illinois Legislator. Obama is also a big Nanny-Stater supporting Nationalized Health Care, massive increases in College Aid for reindoctrination of college students on the Nation's campuses into ultra-liberal Progressive thought, and Affirmative Action.

And let's not forget Obama's ties to Radical Islamo-Fascists around the world, including Ethnic Cleanser Raila Odinga in Kenya whose responsible for the murder of thousands of Kenyans post elections last year. Obama campaigned for his distant relative Odinga in 2006. And the fact that Obama has received the endorsement of Hamas and other Islamic Terrorist groups.

And of course, there are Obama's ties to the Politically Corupt, thuggish Mafia undergound in Chicago politics, including Tony Rezko, and the Blagojevich regime.

Once again, we've got an example of our Conservative friends getting a bit squishy. DeLay was on the right track, but didn't go far enough.

DeLay should have called Obama what he really is all-around: A Fascist in the tradition of former famous Fascists of years past.

Only probelm is DeLay has no credibility. He is a corrupt authoritarian dirtbag who symbolizes all those GOP types that go to Washington to "cut government" and instead live high on the hog and dole out earmarks.

Andrew, all that stuff is way overblown. Texans know it's all from an ultra-liberal Austin Prosecutor who hates DeLay.

BTW, DeLay and Ron Paul are best of friends. I'd go so far as to say that Ron would never have gotten elected in 1996 were it not for DeLay's last minute interventions with $$$ cash to Paul's campaign.

yeah, the texas politics that went on first helped the GOP alot in 2002 thanks to Delay(rightly changing districts to be representive of the state after years of Dem gerrymandering).....and then hurting the GOP alot after the corrupt Dem prosecutor from Austin took him down, and thus GOP house leadership and another "Scandal"...which is being drug out as far as possible.

Delay's departure speech from the House was excellent, politics is a dirty game and those effective, paticularly in congress are bull dogs like Delay.

Eric, Thomas Sowell has a great article about the election. basically the candidates suck but voting for McCain is a no-brainer. most of it is about Iran and history: Link

This "he's an SOB but he was our SOB" still doesn't fly for me. Yes, I am quite sure the liberals in Austin wanted to take down DeLay but he gave them the sword to slay him with. His sleazy buddy-buddy system with Jack Abramoff. The fact the House Ethics Committe PROVED that Delay had 1) tried to bribe Rep. Nick Smith to vote for the Medicare Part D bill 2)Solicted money for companies while voting in Congress on bills that would effect such companies 3)Using the Federal Aviation Administration for "dirty tricks" to track down Texas Democrats who didn't live in their districts.

Andrew is exactly right: he didn't even mention Delay's indictment in his original post. Delay was a horrible porker, mucked up with Abramoff, both bribed and threatened Nick Smith over Medicare Part D. Delay was one of the worst offenders in Congress, and I can't understand why anyone, let alone supposed libertarians, would defend him.

Especially given that he also attacks a more libertarian Congressman, Dick Armey. Incredibly hilariously, called out by Chris Matthews:

Thanks raymond,

I forget about about his attacks on Armey(a real libertarian Republican).

I didn't even mention his bogus charity work that the The New York Times described as "aides to Mr. DeLay... acknowledged that part of the money would go to pay for late-night convention parties, a luxury suite during President Bush's speech at Madison Square Garden and yacht cruises. ... "They are using the idea of helping children as a blatant cover for financing activities in connection with a convention with huge unlimited, undisclosed, unregulated contributions," said Fred Wertheimer, president of Democracy 21, a Washington group that helped push through the recent overhaul of the campaign finance laws."

Again, Ron Paul would not be a United States Congressman today, if it were not for Tom DeLay.

Amazing to me that all these Ron Paul fanatics give no credit to DeLay who got Paul elected. I was there. I saw the whole thing. DeLay delivered tons of donations to Paul's effort in the 14th. And even helped with redistricting to give Paul a very favorable District.

Eric, that is interesting because it is the opposite of what Lew Rockwell says about DeLay's relationship with Paul. April 4, 2006 on his blog, Rockwell said that DeLay was a longtime opponent of Ron Paul.

We've crossed the Godwin's Law line a long time ago. You lose on a technicality.

Quoted For Truth

And the idea that Obama is equivalent to some 1930s-era fascist is quite humorous. Juan McInsane comes a bit closer to filling that bill, with his support for a pre-emptive, unprovoked (and thus immoral) war on Iran.
